Personal Thoughts…
I came across this book randomly and picked it up from the library to see if I liked it for my kids. It features a girl, Rose, who has Asperger’s and is obsessed with homonyms. I really enjoy books about children who have unique qualities that make them different from my own kids which is why I was originally drawn to this book. Books are a wonderful way to bring my children into the world of a child who is differently abled.
I definitely liked this story although the meanness of Rose’s dad was a bit difficult to swallow at times. I was hoping it would resolved but it never really felt to me like it came full circle. I was also hoping for a bit of a different ending. I like endings that make me really feel something and this story just kind of ended. It definitely closed well, just not an overwhelmingly emotional ending, which I really like.
This book is on our 5th grade reading list.
